Ed Burki
Giving Back After Receiving The Gift Of Life

Published on July 23, 2014

I’m a kidney and pancreas transplant recipient for over 14  years and have worked for LI TRIO about as long.

Ed Burki works behind the scenes getting things accomplished at the event. There is so much that happens out of the spotlight and we appreciate Ed's efforts.

After three months of dialysis, I received a transplant and awoke to a fully functioning kidney and pancreas. My internal need to ‘give back’ led me to LI TRIO, where I used my prior business skill sets and personal journey to work with the Board of Directors to help others. I strive to do more each day while dealing with complications that many transplant recipients experience. I temper this by appreciating each day and enjoying all that life has to offer.

I’m a car fan and just sold one of my two convertibles. I’m in the process of “retiring” to Florida but will support my friends and associates to the best of my ability. I look forward to my daughter’s graduation from Berklee College of Music and singing the National Anthem with her as she leads the LI TRIO Singers at the Ducks games, so we can once again spread the word about organ donation.

Wishing you all good health and a positive outlook as we share our journey into the future.
